Rylee describes her work as follows:
“Clothes and costumes are much more than pieces of fabric: they reveal inner truths about how we see ourselves and how we want others to see us. I consider my work to be a combination of that revelation and art. It is my duty to subtly convey a character’s ‘inners’ through their outer appearance. Much can be learned about a person through how they choose to present themselves, and I strive to showcase that character and personality through art.
My background in Queer Studies is an important part of my work as a designer. Ensuring that actors and characters of all genders feel properly represented gives performers the space to create art that showcases marginalized perspectives.”
